The Ties That Bind

How did you spend your weekend? We traveled to Muskegon, Michigan, to visit family. What a fabulous trip. We left Columbus in the rain and as we entered Michigan the sun appeared. The entire weekend weather was perfect. Sunny and in the mid seventies. My husband's sister and husband have two new additions to their family--Chester and Ellie, two small and very chubby dogs. LOL! They are so cute. We visited with cousins, reminsced through old snapshots, talked about old times, ate too much and had fun playing Speed Rummy. The trip reminded me of how precious family is to us. Sometimes we take families for granted, but that should never be. We never know how long we'll have each other. That was brought so clear to us a few months ago when a dear cousin drowned in Lake Michigan. He was dearly missed on this trip. I look at our family that is nearby and realize that I do take them for granted sometimes. I'm going to make more of an effort to encourage family get-togethers in the future. It's not worth it to worry about whether the house is perfect, or if there are enough seats for everyone. What is important is the family bonding time, the sharing of memories, the laughter, the new memories we will build for future generations to remember...and hopefully carry on the tradition.

Happy family bonding to you all.

Hi, Carol Ann. Had to come check out your blog and your website. I was intrigued by the description of your book, because the book I'm trying to sell right now, TAKING DOWN THE DEVIL, involves twins with a psychic connection. Great minds think alike!

I'm glad you had a wonderful visit with your family. How tragic about your cousin. My condolences to you and your family.

I once heard about a sign that someone hung on their front door that reads:

...If you've come to see the house, you'll have to come back when it's clean. If you've come to see us, come on in...
